Under-represented Groups…
On channel 4 they have a series of documentaries called dispatches. In these series they look at people who are disabled or have some sort of ‘disorder’. There was once a tourettes documentary on and soon after a male with tourettes was seen on Big Brother, but it was used for an entertainment purpose. Before this documentary this group of people with this illness where not represented in the media at all, but by having him on a popular tv program it has got the nation to show awareness about this group and also about other represented groups within the media. He also went on to win Big Brother. This brought some equality to the disorder and normality. Some people may have said that it was cruel to have put Pete on to Big Brother or may have seen it as a mick take, as it was purely for the viewers of the shows entertainment and to bring new viewers to the show.
Inspiration…
Things which have inspired are going to watch television programs being recored, i love to see how they get put together and the amount of people needed to put it together. This was the reason for me choosing this degree. By going to the coventry conversations they also inspire me to what i could achieve such as Arti Halai, as she worked in the BBC and by listening to how she approached businesses such as these i find them inspiring, useful and interesting. I also enjoyed listening to the Coventry Conversation with Peter Ogden, as this would be my perfect career.
Also by having lectures which are still in the business and making films or documentaries such as Ken Fero and Clifton Stewart. By having lectures with them we are able to see the new approach which the media industry is taking and by seeing their work we have something to look up to and expand our ideas.
I have been inspired by my other course members as they have all got valuable information about other production items which they have and by working with them i feel like they have helped me to expand my skills and we can work together better as a team by teaching each other things. These all make me want to work harder and by seeing people succeed in the industry such as Peter Ogden being a Coventry Uni graduate it seems like all it takes is discipline and determination to do well.

Final Letter To Self…
My first year at uni is almost at an end. I have met some great people and done some things i never would of thought i would.
I have been to seen asian films which they show as part of the asian film society in my building. At first i thought id hate them but i have come to enjoy them. They are alot different to the typical films we watch here in England. From this it has broardend my mind to watch all types of things which i may have never before this course.
I have worked with many different groups of people and played different roles within these roles. Weather it was with cameras, planning, research or editing i have definatly improved my skills over this year.
Working with local people for my documentary module and doing presentations of our research and our blogs has helped me with my confidence which im sure will be very important in the future when it comes to getting a job.
I am really looking forward to starting next year. I have just chosen my modules for next year, i chose the broadcasting module which is both television and radio. These are the areas which i am most interested in working within. I have also chosen to do short film production because this is most likely going to help me with all my productions skills.

Shinjuku Incident Review
This was my third and final film i watched at the asian film society meeting. Straight away i could see the big difference from the other films which i had seen there. It had a much higher budget, this was shown by the better quality special effects and the amount of actors used. Whereas the others used unknown actors and a minimal amount of actors, this used the well known actor Jackie Chan and there was also a lot more extras in the film.
As soon as the film started we were known about the problem and the drama happened straight away, this was a better way to start the film as the others took a while to get in to it. I also thought there were a lot of pointless scenes. It was a lot less action based than i thought focusing more on drama which is more my kind of film.
Overall i have enjoyed these films a lot more than what i thought i would. I would have never had the opportunity to watch films like these otherwise. You learn a lot about films around the world and the general information about culture in the media. Although it would of been helpful if we didnt have to read the subtitles!

Values and Discipline..
As i do not take part in any extra-curricular activities at uni or at home i have an interest in the media such as music and television. In my spare time i spend listening to music and downloading it. I like to know the lastest music in the charts and be up to date with the new and up and coming stuff. My interest with television has started from the amount of programs and channels which are available to us. From this i started to subscribe to get audience tickets for various different shows such as ‘The Whole 19 Yards’ and ’2 pints of larger and a packet of crisps’ from watching these, it has made me very interested in how they are made. This was also the reason for my choosing this course. From seeing how people work in this business has also made me realise the hours which you work and the amount of stress which you go through while filming programs like this. It has made me think that i would have to stay committed and be very passionate about the job to succeed. I feel that self disciple is a key factor even with things such as uni work, essay dead lines and team work. Things such as these are valuable qualities which are needed in this type of industry. Even team work and group work making a film will help to increase these values which would help in almost any career.
Personal Critical Evaluation
From this module it has got me to think about how the internet has grown so much over such a small period of time. It has also opened my eyes to all the applications on the internet and to start noticeing them in other places such as applications such as wordpress on my BlackBerry. I has been quite shocking how much information the internet can hold about you and can almost tell you everything about you or someone else. Even with all the privacy settings we are still able to get hold of any information we want easily. From this module i have also gained experiance with websites such as Google, Many Eyes, Flickr and YouTube. I have also got to understand WordPress alot more which is going to help me throughout my whole university experiance. All work which is on my blog as part of the 112MC is all my own work and did not contribute in a group while doing this module. Difficulties i have had with this module include being able to work Many Eyes on several visualisations, this was over come by using Google instead and creating them on speadsheets which was part of my Task 2. I have also had trouble by putting my Flickr slide show on to my blog, i over came this problem by using a widget and having my images on the side panel. I have also left the link on my blog so you can click on it and then view the slide show. I did not come across and major problems in Task 3 and by using all the different applications i thought that is was a sucessful task. All the work for this module can be found on the categorie 112mc. This includes lecture feedback, my own thoughts on various things i have found from this module and the tasks with a reflection on each.
Reflection on Task 3
From doing task three it has make me think that a lot of companies must use this technique to show customers directions etc on their websites. It can be a very useful tool for people if you were not familiar with the area. By having videos and images on a map it makes knowing what a place you are trying to find a lot easier. Overall i found this task was very easy, as it just involved taking pictures and uploading them onto the web. I am already familiar with doing this by uploading various photos on my Facebook. I used Final Cut Pro to put my film together and uploaded it onto YouTube which i was also familiar with doing already. Before this task i was not aware that you could upload information such as this onto a Google Map and it could be seen by the public.
